Accounting and Professional Business Applications Training
This Accounting and Professional Business Applications Training program is available at all ICT campuses and is offered as an associate degree area of emphasis or shorter-term diploma program of study.
The Accounting and Professional Business Applications program is designed to develop essential accounting, office automation and application skills. The focus is on learning the basic Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Fundamental procedures in understanding and applying spreadsheets, credits and debits, setting up accounts, general ledgers, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and quarterly and annual reports are at the core of this program. The program content includes the two most widely used automated accounting applications, Peachtree Accounting and QuickBooks Pro.
This Accounting program also includes Microsoft Certification in any of the MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) components taken to satisfy graduation requirements.
The Associate of Science degree also contains all general education requirements and covers additional elements in accounting, such as Cost Accounting, Federal Tax Procedures, and Principles of Entrepreneurship.
As with all programs at ICT, this program includes an externship. An Externship is a program component that assigns a student to a partnering company for 135 hours giving the student the opportunity to put his/her new skills to use and gain real-life career training. ICT is one of the few schools that offer this as part of a student’s training in every program of study related to Business Information Systems.
This is an excellent program in preparation for a career in the wide open accounting field. There will always be a demand for people with accounting skills and the ability to apply them. Our hands-on approach to training assures you will be well-equipped to enter this field.
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics and the US Department of Labor, the accounting field as a whole will experience above average growth compared to all sectors at least through the year 2020.
While other schools may offer accounting programs, the individual attention, hands-on training, and self-paced approach to education provided by ICT will afford you advantages that cannot be found at any other institution.
